Star Wars: Squadrons is Cheaper Than Most New Video Games

Star Wars: Squadrons has officially been announced by EA and it actually looks like a fun game, embracing some of the dogfights from older titles while keeping things in first-person ala Ace Combat. It's definitely a Star Wars game a lot of fans are going to be interested in, especially since the title is a bit cheaper than most new releases. Rather than go for a full $60, this is going to be a solid $40, which should please multiplayer fans.

According to ScreenRant, the game will focus more on multiplayer, with a much smaller story mode that will likely act as a tutorial for the real meat of the game. That's not a bad thing but this seems to be the first time EA is appropriately pricing their Star Wars games. We all know about the Battlefront II fiasco but there was also a lot of hate for the "original" Battlefront from EA due to its full price and $50 season pass at the time.

Going for $40 isn't bad at all, making it the same price as games like Overwatch. Hopefully, they don't fall into the pit of microtransactions, which really plagued the release of Battlefront II, which only became a good game after numerous updates that made it friendlier to the average consumer.

Coming out this October, Star Wars: Squadrons is expected to hit current-gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One, which might be another reason for the smaller price tag. Either way, it's a solid price though anyone wanting a proper single-player Star Wars experience should stick with Jedi: Fallen Order.
