Star Wars Series The Mandalorian Reportedly Adds Carl Weathers In Mystery Role

It looks like a veteran actor will be joining Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian. There have been reports that former Rocky star Carl Weathers has been cast in a mystery role in the highly anticipated Star Wars series.

The cast of The Mandalorian has not yet been officially announced. Nevertheless, some sources have revealed that Weathers will be part of the show. Unfortunately, the Predator star's role was not confirmed so it is still up for speculations.

Weathers certainly seems like a great addition to the Star Wars Universe. After all, the former football player has been a part of several successful franchises including the Rocky Balboa movies. One of his most memorable roles was as Apollo Creed in the Rocky films and he's even lent his voice to Combat Carl in the Disney TV special Toy Story of Horror! Weathers also played himself in Arrested Development and had an appearance in the Magnum P.I. reboot.

But who will Weathers be playing in The Mandalorian? It's hard to tell since much of the series is still shrouded in mystery. All we know so far is that the show will follow "a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic." Perhaps Weathers will portray the protagonist's ally or mentor? We'll have to wait for new updates before we can confirm anything.

Although it would be exciting to see Weathers back in action, Disney has not yet confirmed the actor's casting. In this case, we would recommend taking this will a grain of salt.

The Mandalorian is currently in production and is expected to air on Disney+ by late 2019.
