Star Wars Scribe Lawrence Kasdan Possibly Confirms He Didn't Watch The Prequels

Lawrence Kasdan is a name that is often associated with Star Wars. However, the screenwriter might not be as knowledgeable about the franchise as we expect.

Lawrence is one of the cast and crew of Solo: A Star Wars Story featured in the film's Blu-ray (via GameSpot). The Empire Strikes Back scribe revealed that his son and Solo co-writer Jon Kasdan knows more about the films compared to him. Interestingly, Lawrence hinted at not having seen the prequel trilogy released in the early 2000s.

"I've written four of these movies, but [Jonathan] knows more detail. He's very funny about it. He thinks it's sort of charming and pitiful that I don't know some basic facts. There's a whole group of movies I know almost nothing about, and he's seen those...I'm sort of an original--you know, I'm faithful to the originals."

It's a sentiment that has been echoed by several fans who are loyal to the original trilogy. Nevertheless, it's good to know that Jon continues to keep Lawrence updated on everything Star Wars.

In addition to Solo and Empire, Lawrence also penned Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Solo is the last Star Wars film he wrote and has not been involved in the last two movies of the current trilogy.

The Blu-ray also revealed that the new Millennium Falcon in Solo is actually the same set used in The Force Awakens. The production team had taken the Episode VII set and redesigned its interior to make it appear new. It is unclear if the set will once again be used to stand in for the Falcon in the still-untitled Star Wars: Episode IX. Nevertheless, we wouldn't be surprised if it makes another appearance soon.

The Solo: A Star Wars Story DVD, Ultra HD Blu-ray, and Blu-ray will be released on September 25.
