Star Wars: Rogue One Prequel Series will Bring Back Mon Mothma

It looks like Diego Luna will be reunited with yet another Rogue One: A Star Wars Story castmate. It has been confirmed that the highly anticipated Cassian Andor series will bring back Mon Mothma actress Genevieve O'Reilly.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that O'Reilly will reprise her role as the Rebel Alliance leader in the Rogue One prequel show that will air on Disney+. She will be the third actor who appeared in the 2016 film who is confirmed to join the cast along with Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk.

It's not exactly a huge surprise that Mon Mothma will appear in the Rogue One prequel. After all, it has long been established that she is one of the important figures who helped form the Rebel Alliance. Some believe that the upcoming Star Wars series will reveal whether she was the one who recruited Cassian in the first place. However, it is important to point out that this has not yet been confirmed so it is best to take it with a grain of salt.

Mon Mothma was previously portrayed by Caroline Blakiston in Return of the Jedi and O'Reilly had actually taken the part in Revenge of the Sith although her scene was deleted. The character has also appeared in the animated show Star Wars Rebels where fans got to see how she was slowly gathering the Rebel Alliance.

The Cassian Andor series has not yet been given an official release date. However, it is still expected to air on Disney+ by 2021.
