Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might have had its fair share of success, however, the movie ended up being filled with so much controversy because of its convoluted narrative and because of dubious storytelling choices.
This includes Force healing, an ability which was used many times in The Rise of Skywalker. While Force Healing isn't an entirely new concept, there has been a lot of confusion as to the precedent of the Jedi ability to heal others using the Force.
Sure, Baby Yoda might have used Force Healing to fix up Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) in Star Wars: The Mandalorian, but what about films in the Skywalker saga? Was Force healing present in the original and prequel trilogies?
According to Digital Spy, Force Healing might have actually been present in the very first Star Wars movie, pointing out to a scene where Obi-Wan Kenobi revives Luke Skywalker after a near-death battle in the Jundland Wastes on the desert planet of Tatooine. The entertainment news outlet decided to test out its theory by asking readers to vote on whether they thought that Force healing was used before the events of Episode IX, and it seems like a majority of 2000 respondents couldn't help but agree.
Seventy one percent of the respondents of the poll voted "yes, because what else was he doing?" to the site's question asking "Do you think Obi-Wan used Force Healing (in A New Hope)?"
Based on the results, it seems like most Star Wars fans believe that Force Healing was used in the very first Star Wars movie, making it a precedent for The Rise of Skywalker.
