Star Wars: Mark Hamill Reveals Silly Glitch While Shooting Yoda's Death Scene

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill is very active on Twitter, and once in a while, he'll share stories about working on the original trilogy. Replying to a fan, he revealed a silly glitch that his earpiece had when he was shooting Yoda's death scene with Frank Oz in Return of the Jedi.

Apparently, instead of hearing Oz doing his lines, Hamill would accidentally be listening to pop singles while they were shooting the scene:

And Frank Oz also replied:

It's just a silly glitch, but it does change things when you watch the scene again. You'd think that Hamill was trying to be emotional while shooting the scene, but instead, he's listening to the Rolling Stones and just waiting for the Yoda puppet to stop talking.

For now, Hamill is expected to reprise the role of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episode IX, but I don't expect it to be as large a role as compared to The Last Jedi. At best, I think Luke will appear just as much as Obi-Wan did in the original trilogy after he died. Though I'm expecting him to appear to Rey, I would also love to see how Luke's ghost would talk to Kylo Ren and try to sway him back into the light.

As for Frank Oz, it was a nice surprise to see Yoda make a comeback in TLJ, but as of now, I think his work on the sequel trilogy is done. Besides, like Kylo said, "it's time to let old things die." I love Yoda, but I want to see more development with the new characters.

Star Wars Episode IX comes out Dec. 20.
