Star Wars: Mark Hamill Reveals He has Never Met Natalie Portman; but He Almost Did

Natalie Portman had just celebrated a birthday last June 9, and Mark Hamill, who plays her onscreen son Luke Skywalker, had just recently revealed that he's never met her. What's more, The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson revealed that the two were very close to meeting.

This was Hamill's original tweet on Portman's birthday:

And this is what Rian Johnson had to say about them almost meeting:

With both Luke Skywalker and Padme Amidala dead in the Star Wars franchise, there is very little chance that we would be able to see Mark Hamill and Natalie Portman come together onscreen in any way. However, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a Luke Skywalker movie where he gets access to a holovid of Padme Amidala.

With Solo being a more self-contained story in the Star Wars universe, some people have also been wondering if they could get a Luke Skywalker spinoff at some point. Sure Star Wars is already about Luke's journey, but it would be amazing if we saw Luke in his prime, complete with modern Jedi Master moves and special effects.

Sebastian Stan has been a top contender for the role—at least, for the fans that is.
