Star Wars' Mark Hamill on What Really Killed Luke Skywalker

Though actors like Harrison Ford like to distance themselves from the Star Wars franchise, Mark Hamill fully embraces the fandom and jokes around with fans on Twitter all the time. Just in, Hamill pokes fun at Luke Skywalker's death and compares it to a junkie overdose.

If you've followed Hamill for a while, you'll know that he loves to poke fun on Twitter and he's always good for a joke or two. If you think for one second that this is him showing his disdain for what happened in The Last Jedi, then I think you're reading too much into it.

It was no mystery that Hamill fundamentally disagreed on Rian Johnson's character arc for Luke in The Last Jedi, but since the film's release, it seems that he's grown to appreciate what Johnson has brought to the character.

Personally, I thought that Johnson handled everything really well, and he brought a level of humanity to Luke that I think some people are finding hard to understand. I think most of the hate comes from the fans who wanted Luke to go out on a blaze of glory, unleashing all of his powers on the First Order.

Don't even get me started on Snoke.

For now, Hamill is set to come back in Star Wars Episode IX, and everyone is almost certain that it's in the form of a Force Ghost. With Carrie Fisher gone, I'm just happy to see Hamill come back; add to that Billy Dee Williams who is reprising the role of the galaxy's favorite smoothie, Lando Calrissian.

Star Wars Episode IX comes out Dec. 20, 2019.
