When you think of the crème de la crème of Star Wars video games, titles like Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: Battlefront II, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order/Survivor instantly come to mind.
However, one title has managed to hold onto its place in the upper echelon of Star Wars games and that's none other than Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Although extremely dated compared to the aforementioned titles, the beloved game still holds a special place in the hearts of the franchise's longtime followers, and of course, for good reason
However, it doesn't look like the highly anticipated modern-day reimagining of KOTOR isn't going to happen after all, despite countless teases from its developers over the last number of years.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake May Not Get Released After All
Reputable industry insider Jeff Grubb recently took to his YouTube channel to deliver some concerning news regarding the KOTOR remake's true status.
When asked whether he thinks the game will come out before the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Grubb predicted that the Knights of the Old Republic remake won't see the light of day, simply due to the lack of updates from the folks currently working on it.

As it stands, nothing has been officially confirmed yet and from what we know, the remake is still pretty much in the works over at Saber Interactive, Aspyr Media's parent company.
It's also worth noting that per an August 2022 report regarding the game switching its developers (via GameRant), insider sources close to the Embracer Group stated that the Knights of the Old Republic remake still need at least two years of development before being ready for release.
For now, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that the KOTOR remake will actually get released. But we'd like to think that OG fans of the game won't lose sleep over it because they can always pop in the original.
