Star Wars: Kenobi Movie Said to Have Lost Director Before Solo Even Released

While the Kenobi movie had not been officially announced, it was rumored that director Stephen Daldry was hired to helm the project. Now news has come out that Daldry actually left the film even before the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story last month.

This news comes from Omega Underground, saying that Daldry had left the project on May 11, two weeks before the release of Solo.

With the news coming out that Lucasfilm had put their ‘Star Wars Story' films on hold, this just proves that it wasn't Solo's box office performance that lead to Kenobi being delayed. If anything, development just really wasn't going the way they wanted, so Lucasfilm saw it fit to put priority on other films first.

For now, the studio is said to be focusing on Star Wars Episode IX and the development of the trilogies that will come after it. The Last Jedi's Rian Johnson had been given free reign on developing his own trilogy of movies, and it has also been announced that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are working on their own series of Star Wars films.

The Boba Fett movie wasn't expected to release anytime soon, but hopefully once Lucasfilm works out all the kinks, they will kickstart development again with the anthology films. I was a big fan of Solo: A Star Wars Story, and I was really looking forward to more of the self-contained stories in the future.

The Kenobi film had not been officially announced.
