Star Wars IX: Colin Trevorrow was Fired Months before the Announcement

Jaws dropped when Lucasfilm announced that Colin Trevorrow was no longer directing Star Wars Episode IX, but as it turns out, he was allegedly fired way before any announcement was made; a whole two months before, in fact.

According to Scott Wampler from Birth. Movies. Death., we was supposed to break the story when he first heard about it, but chose not to as he couldn't find a second source. Here's his post:

The news of Trevorrow came as such a shock to a lot of fans since it came shortly after it was announced that Phil Lord and Chris Miller were no longer directing Solo: A Star Wars Story. With Lord and Miller getting an executive producer credit for Solo, I'm wondering if Trevorrow's name will still be attached to Star Wars Episode IX at all.

For now, J.J. Abrams is back on to direct, and he'll be working on a script that he has worked on with Chris Terrio (Batman v Superman). I'm just crossing my fingers that Abrams does something more new and risky with IX as compared to his incredibly derivative work on Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Star Wars Episode IX comes out Dec. 20, 2019.
