Star Wars: Here's How George Lucas Influenced The Making of Solo's L3-37

While it didn't break the box office, many still consider Solo: A Star Wars Story to be a solid film with fun characters. Fans enjoyed this younger interpretation of Han and how he became friends with Chewbacca. Sure, the film didn't have a lot of stakes since we all knew Han and Chewie would make it out alive but it was still one hell of a ride.

One of the film's more memorable characters was L3-37, the droid of Lando Calrissian who added a lot of personality to the spinoff. Interestingly enough, a fan who bought the Target exclusive artbook of Solo found out that Star Wars creator George Lucas had a big hand in creating the character.

Not only did Lucas come up with the droid activism part of the character but he also worked on its autonomy. Since many consider L3-37 to be a highlight from the spinoff movie, this shows that Lucas can still be creative, despite everything we saw in the first two prequel movies.

L3-37 would end up uploading his AI to the Millenium Falcon, which is why C3PO noted how it seemed to talk back at him in the first few Star Wars films. There's no doubt that the droid has found a place in the hearts of fans and it's a shame that we won't see much of his droid activism in future installments.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is available now on Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital services.
