Star Wars Fans Believe Rey Will Be Remembered Fondly as Much as Luke and Anakin

The Star Wars fanbase might have mixed feelings over Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy, however, there are those who believe that Rey (Daisy Ridley) will be thought of just as fondly as Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) or his father, Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen).

Now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has marked the end of the Skywalker saga, fans have begun to debate the relevance of the sequel trilogy and Rey's staying power as the sequel trilogy's heroine. While there's been a lot of conflicting sentiments over the quality of Disney's Star Wars movies, fans believe that Rey will become a memorable Star Wars hero.

Showbiz Cheat Sheet points out the same kind of issue fans had with the prequel trilogy and how Anakin Skywalker become one of the most well-loved characters years after the prequels' release. According to the entertainment news outlet, all Rey really needs is time to solidify her place in the galaxy far, far away.

The publication has been collecting various tweets and comments that fans have been making about Ridley's relevance to the franchise (though it seems like a few of these tweets are no longer available for viewing on Twitter).

"Star Wars is generational, and a new generation will grow up with Rey as their hero," one fan reasoned out, "There's always resistance to change, but in time, those who were inspired by her will gain platforms and express that love her (many already have)."

That's true. The only way we're going to find out about how fans really feel about Rey is if we give the character some time. We can always return to the discussion about the sequel trilogy in a few years' time.

The Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
