Star Wars Fans Aren’t Too Happy With Episode IX’s New Sith Troopers

Last week, Star Wars revealed the Sith Troopers, a new type of stormtrooper set to appear in Lucasfilm's upcoming sequel trilogy movie, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

While the revelation sparked questions about the trooper's actual ties to the Sith and their potential connection to the Force, it seems like fans weren't too wowed by the Sith Trooper's design. Taking to Twitter, fans openly complain about the troopers, calling them a lazily designed trooper. Not only do they make fun of the new troopers, but they've also been making comparisons with Disney's new Sith Trooper and the Sith Trooper first introduced in Star Wars: The Knights Of The Old Republic.

Check out some of the tweets down here:

We can't blame them, of course. As exciting as the idea of Sith Troopers sound, it seems like The Rise of Skywalker's production design team just decided to paint a set of stormtroopers red and then slap on the name Sith to it.

Still, we've yet to see what these Sith Troopers are going to do in the film. Will the Sith Troopers accompany a risen Emperor Palpatine? Will they rise up against Kylo Ren (Adam Driver)?

Recent rumors say that these Sith Troopers actually answer directly to the Knights of Ren, so by extension, they only answer to Kylo Ren.

Hopefully we get to see them take on a more significant role in The Rise of Skywalker. It would be terrible to see them just making a short appearance in the film after making a splash like this.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set for release December 20, 2019.
