Star Wars Fan Theory Explains the Real Reason Behind the Jedi’s Downfall

Yoda might have been one of the most powerful Jedi during the Star Wars prequels, however, after the execution of Order 66 in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, the Jedi Order falls apart, and Yoda is forced to escape to Dagobah.

While it's easy to blame the destruction of the Jedi on Palpatine's cunning, many reason that the Jedi Order had already been weak during the Star Wars prequels with the Jedi Council concerning themselves with politics than with the Force.

Now, a new fan theory that's been making the rounds online offers a grim proposal that adds to the aforementioned treatise – the Jedi Order became weak because Yoda and the Jedi Council had lost part of their connection with the Force during the time of Star Wars: Phantom Menace.

Building on the fact that Luke was able to willingly disconnect from the Force in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Reddit user The Mediocre Critic argues that Yoda and the Jedi Council had long since had severed their ties with the Force at the start of the prequels.

It's an interesting theory with some evidence to support its treatise. After all, how could Yoda have failed to sense that Palpatine was a Sith when he was moving so freely among them? Why wasn't the council able to notice the Dark-side building inside Anakin and successfully stave off that part of the young Jedi?

While there might be some truth to this theory, we find it hard to believe that Yoda and the Council had fully cut themselves off from the Force. After all, they were still using the Force in the prequels, and they could sense many other things outside of Palpatine.
