Star Wars Fan Finds Connections Between The Emperor’s New Groove And The Last Jedi

It might be hard imagining the connection between Star Wars and TheEmperor's New Groove, but it looks like one Star Wars fan has been able to discover a lot of fun and quirky parallels between Lucasfilm's latest sequel trilogy installment, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Disney's animated feature film.

Taking to Twitter, a Star Wars fan started a pretty neat thread pointing out the similarities between The Last Jedi and The Emperor's New Groove. Beginning with a simple question asking whether " Episode IX please just be exactly like The Emperor's New Groove with Hux as Yzma, Kylo as Kuzco, and Rey as Pacha," the fan was able to come up with more than seven common scenes between the films.

Check it out down here:

It's pretty hard to imagine The Emperor's New Groove being in any way like a Star Wars movie. A 2000 animated feature film, The Emperor's New Groove tells the story of Kuzco, the selfish and borderline megalomaniacal Emperor of the Inca Kingdom who gets turned into a llama by his adviser. The Last Jedi, on the other hand, focuses on a Force-sensitive orphan, a Jedi hermit, a hesitant Resistance Fighter, a cocky Resistance Pilot, and a Dark Side user with a whole lot of issues.

Still, while The Emperor's New Groove might not share that many similarities with The Last Jedi in terms of story, the films do have a lot of cinematic connections.

Lucasfilm's third and final sequel trilogy installment, Star Wars: Episode IX, hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
