Star Wars: Episode IX’s Daisy Ridley Says Luke Would Probably Give Rey Away At Wedding

Today, we learned that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story would have been a lot less tragic than it actually was. Not only did Rogue One writer Chris Weitz reveal that there was a version of the film's script where nobody died, but it seems like the story actually ended with a wedding.

What if Star Wars: Episode IX were to end with a wedding? What would happen then?

Fans noticed that there was some sort of tension between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The film's sequel, Star Wars:The Last Jedi, explored their connection further, bonding the two in the Force. Though the two ended up separating ways during the end of the film, many anticipate their reunion in Episode IX. Though it's highly unlikely that the two will ever get married in the film, fans can still hold on to hope. There's nothing wrong with fantasizing, is there?

Speaking with a fan in an old video that's currently making the rounds online, Ridley tries to answer a question about Rey's potential wedding.

"So Daisy, do you think if Rey got married, would her parents come to her wedding, and who would they be?" the fan asked.

"Who would they be?" Daisy laughed, "I think Luke would probably give her away."

It's a cute image, the Jedi hermit Luke walking Rey down the aisle. Unfortunately, The Last Jedi saw the death of Luke – the Jedi Master used up all his life energy projecting his image on Crait to save what little remains of the Resistance. Maybe his Force Ghost could walk Rey down the aisle?

Oh well, here's to wishful thinking.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
