Star Wars Episode IX: More Details Teased for Leia's Appearance

It has recently been revealed that Carrie Fisher's appearance in Star Wars Episode IX will be brought to life via some unused footage of her work in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, and now we have some more details on just how much of her we'll be seeing in the film.

ABC News' Clayton Sandell told Star Wars News Net:

"I talked to Todd Fisher today about all of this and he has been talking with J. J. Abrams about it. I asked him, because the press release only said The Force Awakens so I asked about The Last Jedi, and they are also using unused footage from The Last Jedi. I asked him how many minutes of footage they had from it and he said ‘I can't tell you that!'"

Carrie Fisher's family is apparently very excited to see how she comes back in the movie, and have given their blessing to Abrams to make use of Fisher's unused footage.

"He (Todd Fisher) said there were big surprises coming – big surprises with this movie, this performance, and the unused footage – and said – this one is really for the fans."

"Todd and the whole family are very excited and wanted it to happen."

The death of Carrie Fisher was one of the more devastating celebrity deaths of 2016. Though it was great that she finished all her work for The Last Jedi, Fisher's death had left Abrams and Chris Terrio to come up with something to replace the plans for Leia's arc in IX.

Hopefully, Abrams comes up with a tribute that will please most of the fanbase. I would say all, but this is the Star Wars fanbase we're talking about—not everyone is going to be pleased. Guaranteed.

Star Wars Episode IX is aiming for a release on Dec. 20, 2019.
