Star Wars Episode IX Might Reveal Millennium Falcon Upgrade

There is little doubt that the Millennium Falcon has gone through a lot in the Star Wars films. Although Han Solo claims the freighter is the fastest ship in the galaxy, it is usually referred to as a piece of junk in both the original and current trilogy. However, it looks like the Corellian starship is set for an upgrade in Star Wars: Episode IX.

According to Fantha Tracks, the Falcon could get a new feature after the extensive damage it endured in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. This one interesting detail could prove to be a major change for the ship in Episode IX.

"The Force Awakens introduced fans to the Corellian Corvette-style rectangular sensor array on the Millennium Falcon, but perhaps not so obvious was its destruction towards the end of The Last Jedi at the hands of a First Order TIE Fighter whilst flying through the caverns of Crait.
"Not to be left without this critical function for Episode IX, we have been notified from a trusted source that the Millennium Falcon will sport a new style sensor array dish, different to any we have seen before.
"The new six-sided dish is still in the same location as before, but looks significantly different."

The outlet also created a mock-up of what the new dish will look like. You can view it here.

We're certainly hoping to see the new feature on the Millennium Falcon soon. Director J.J. Abrams has just confirmed that Episode IX has completed principal photography by sharing a photo of John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaac on the set. We're hoping that the wrap means we will be seeing the first footage and a glimpse at the Falcon in the next few days.

Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release on December 20.
