Star Wars: Episode IX Fan Theory Suggests Kylo Ren Actually Has A Shocking Mission

Sure, Lucasfilm might be keeping most of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker under wraps, but there have been quite a number of interesting rumors and theories going around online, keeping fans busy with their wild assumptions about what might happen in the film.

One of the most recent Rise of Skywalker theories focuses on Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and his true loyalties, suggesting a shocking twist for fans. There's been a lot of talk about Kylo Ren and his arc for redemption in Episode IX. In The Last Jedi, fans saw the estranged son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) struggling between the Darkness and the Light. Though Kylo ended up choosing the Dark Side of the Force, fans continue hoping for his redemption.

But what if Kylo isn't really as evil all along?

According to this fan theory that's been making the rounds on Reddit, The Rise of Skywalker may very well reveal Kylo Ren's true mission as an agent of the Dark Side that's bent on killing Emperor Palpatine once and for all. This theory suggests that Ben's little conversation with Vader's helmet in Star Wars: The Force Awakens where he says "I will finish what you started" might not actually refer to Darth Vader's reign, but instead throwing Palpatine to his doom.

Of course, this theory may be a little bit farfetched. Palpatine may have been teased in the trailer, but we can't be entirely sure to what extend Darth Sidious' role might be in the movie.
