Star Wars: Episode IX Could Feature Uneasy Resistance/First Order Alliance To Defeat A Greater Threat

The Star Wars Universe has always been about the conflict between the Jedi and the Sith as well as the Rebellion and the Empire. In the new trilogy, it has been about the Resistance and the First Order. But is it possible that the two sides will finally work together to defeat a greater threat in Star Wars: Episode IX?

The fan theory posted on Reddit suggests that the Resistance and the First Order will form an uneasy alliance this year. The idea stems from the Star Wars novel Thrawn: Alliances where the villain provides a disturbing description of a previously unmentioned alien race.

"Grysks are a species living somewhere in the Unknown Regions. Creatures half of myth, whom few have ever seen. It is said that they are nomads, with no fixed home, traveling in spacecraft so numerous they blot out the stars. They are said to be terrifying warriors, overwhelming their opponents by sheer numbers and ferocity."

It's certainly an interesting concept. The theory further purports that Snoke may have been a Grysk who was determined to use Kylo Ren to ultimately destroy the Jedi, the Sith, the Resistance, and the First Order.

Although the idea of the two sides coming together to fight a bigger threat seems like a good one, it doesn't quite fit with what the trilogy has been working towards from the start. In this case, we would recommend taking it with a grain of salt.

There have been speculations that Episode IX will focus on Kylo Ren finally realizing his full potential. A popular theory suggests that the film's official title could be revealed to be Star Wars: Son of Darkness. This would firmly place the former Ben Solo as the villain of the movie.

Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release on December 20.
