Star Wars Episode IX: Chewbacca’s Joonas Suotamo Bids Farewell to John Boyega

It's been a long way since 2015, and the Star Wars sequel trilogy is set to cap off with Episode IX this coming December. The film has wrapped and the wrap party has also taken place, and Joonas Suotamo, who plays Chewbacca, bids farewell to co-star John Boyega (Finn).

Though they did get Peter Mayhew to return for The Force Awakens, a lot of the physical stunts they cast Suotamo to do. No doubt he's had time to bond with Boyega and the rest of the cast, counting that he's been working on the movies since TFA and completely took over by the time of The Last Jedi.

It's kind of sad thinking that we may not be seeing any more of Finn in the Star Wars films moving forward. Maybe in a few more years Lucasfilm will want to revisit another trilogy following Rey, Finn, and the rest of the Resistance after the events of Episode IX.

On the other hand, there's still a good chance that we could be seeing more of Suotamo as Chewbacca. Solo: A Star Wars Story was setting up for a sequel, and even though it underperformed in the box office, Lucasfilm must have noticed the glowing reviews that the movie has been receiving since the home release. Hopefully they're considering a sequel, but maybe this time Disney will do better to market the film.

Catch Suotamo and Boyega work together for one last time in Star Wars Episode IX which comes out Dec. 20.
