Taika Waititi has become one of Hollywood's most polarizing filmmakers and after Thor: Love and Thunder became a critical disaster, fans pretty much lost faith in the director who was once credited for saving the Thor character from obscurity. When it was announced that Waititi is set to direct his own Star Wars film, the reception has been mostly negative, with many convinced that he'll also find a way to "ruin" the franchise much like he did with the God of Thunder.

Now, it appears that even a colleague of his isn't confident with his ability to handle a Star Wars project. On Twitter, fans noticed that Logan director James Mangold liked a tweet trashing Waititi's mystery film after many assumed that his film was no longer in active development.

The tweet says: "NO TAIKA WAITITI STAR WARS MOVIE!!!" complete with a reaction video of people celebrating. We hate to burst your bubble but Waititi's film is still moving forward with him potentially starring.

As for Mangold, who was announced during Star Wars Celebration Europe as one of the franchise's newest directors, he immediately unliked the tweet when it started blowing up on the platform. He didn't clarify if he liked it on purpose or if he just accidentally clicked the button.

Whether it was intentional or not, it's still a bad look for Mangold, especially now that he and Waititi will be working under one franchise. As for Taika, I think it's unfair to berate his body of work just because Thor 5 ended up being so divisive. If anything, now's the time for fans to allow him to redeem himself and frankly, I believe he'll do just that with his upcoming Star Wars film.

Meanwhile, Star Wars' next big screen outing is expected to come out sometime in 2025.
