J.J. Abrams has been in a tug-of-war with Warner Media and Apple. Recently, reports confirm that Abrams went with Warner Media despite a lower offer than Apple's. Thinking that his company, Bad Robot, would have larger opportunities in the future.

And judging from Abrams' decision along with rumors coming out lately, it looks like he could get something worthy from this deal after all.

Rumors about Abrams having a conversation with Warner Bros about a Superman movie are circulating the net. This information is from Youtuber Grace Randolph of Beyond the Trailer. She tweeted about her sources hearing that the filmmaker will either make the movie as an Extended Universe tie-in or a "standalone ‘Elseworlds' style movie." See tweet below:

"Basically whatever will get him to do it," says Randolph. Expressing her disappointment since she thinks that Warner Bros "refuses to learn from their mistakes."

Randolph might be hinting on Warner letting J.J. Abrams pursue what he wants to do as long as they "get him to do it." Randolph even shared her thoughts on the mistake she is pertaining to. When she was asked about the mistake, she points to the movie Batman v Superman as it was an "Elseworlds-style story that didn't work." Randolph even randomly adds to her response that "they need to start building a Cinematic Universe already…"

As always, none of these rumors have been confirmed. We do not know Randolph's sources nor their credibility so readers should take this with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, if Abrams were to work on a Superman movie, I think it would be interesting to see how he interprets the character and his story.

J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
