As it stands, a handful of Star Wars films are currently in development with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's project centered on Rey Skywalker establishing a new Jedi Order expected to hit cinemas sometime in 2025.

Another exciting project is Dave Filoni's film which is pretty much a grand crossover event involving characters from the MandoVerse. Just recently, a rumor circulated online claiming that the film's title will actually take huge inspiration from Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire.

While it does make sense for Filoni's Star Wars film to at least be loosely based on Zahn's critically acclaimed novel, a new report debunks the project's rumored title.

Taking to The Hot Mic podcast, industry insider Jeff Sneider reports that "Heir to the Empire" will NOT be the title of the anticipated MandoVerse crossover movie. He said: "Okay, I’ve just got this in. This is just in. No. No is the answer. I’m hearing that it’s not called Heir to the Empire. It’s not true."

Key details about Filoni's film have yet to be disclosed and all we know for now is that the events of the MandoVerse shows — The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew will all culminate on the big screen.

Rumor has it that the film is eyeing a 2026 release date and given how Lucasfilm's current focus is on the post-sequel trilogy movie, it would be safe to assume that we won't be getting any updates regarding Filoni's project until the next Star Wars Celebration, at least.

Meanwhile, all three seasons of The Mandalorian are available to stream on Disney+.
