Star Wars: Darth Maul Voice Actor Shares Interesting Qi'ra Theory In Solo

There is little doubt that Solo: A Star Wars Story revealed how Han met Chewbacca and eventually took the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian. However, Darth Maul voice actor Sam Witwer has offered a new theory about the film's true purpose. Interestingly, it has a lot to do with Qi'ra making the ultimate sacrifice.

The Solo star recently spoke to CinemaBlend and offered his thoughts about Qi'ra's actions in the film. Witwer believed that Emilia Clarke's character was interested in saving Han from a life of crime.

"It doesn't occur to you the first time, but the second time you see the movie, that movie is really about Qi'ra trying to save Han Solo's soul, because she knows he's gonna follow her all the way to hell if he has the chance, so she has to break his heart."

Witwer further explained that Qi'ra was aware of how easily Han could be corrupted and chose to propel him towards a different life.

"She has to keep him away from the darkest elements of the universe. She has to keep him firmly out of hell and ascending, which his trajectory as a character is to ascend, and she knows that. But that ascendant quality that Han Solo has, that good guy quality could be corrupted and used in the opposite direction, because she knows where she's going and she knows he doesn't belong there."

It's an interesting theory that you could pick up on once you watch Solo again. However, Qi'ra's storyline might simply be a small part of the bigger picture. After all, the film confirmed that Han will always choose to be the good guy even if he is a stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking Nerfherder.

The Solo: A Star Wars Story DVD and Blu-Ray were released on September 25.
