Star Wars’ Baby Yoda Toy Production Could See Major Delays Thanks To COVID-19

Star Wars: The Mandalorian fans might be looking forward to new Baby Yoda merchandise, but it looks like the production of The Child toys may see delay thanks to COVID-19.

According to CNN, Hasbro has just confirmed that the spread of the novel coronavirus has disrupted its supply chain, delaying the production of some of its highly anticipated merchandise. Industry analysts believe that one of the products to see delay due to the supply chain disruption is the Star Wars Baby Yoda Toy Line.

While Jim Silver, CEO of toy website Toys, Tots, Pets and More, says that the Baby Yoda toy delay hasn't really happened yet, there could be shortages very, very soon.

"If things aren't normal by the time June and July roll around, there will be shortages on a litany of Toys," Silver told the publication.

Baby Yoda has become such a popular character among Star Wars fans. Pedro Pascal might be the lead star in The Mandalorian, but the Child managed to steal the hearts of viewers everywhere the moment he appeared in the very first episode of Jon Favreau's Star Wars live-action series. Holding off on the first production runs of Baby Yoda merchandise to avoid spoiling the series, Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to officially release quite a number of Baby Yoda toys to the public.

We hope that the supply chain disruption doesn't cause any delays to the release of Lucasfilm's Baby Yoda merchandise.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime this October.
