Han Solo's Scenes In Star Wars 9 Will Use Extra Footage And Lines From The OT

Star Wars: Episode IX marks as the third and final film in Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy, and along with the film comes the return of Star Wars favorite characters like Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker, and the late Carrie Fisher's General Organa.

While the return of these Star Wars legends has already been confirmed, a new rumor circulating online says that Harrison Ford's Han Solo might make an appearance in the film despite his heartbreaking death in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Not only that, but this leak also suggests that we'll get to hear and see bits of Ford's performance from the original trilogy in the upcoming Star Wars film.

According to a new report by Express, a leak from the set of Episode IX suggests that J.J. Abrams and his production team are going through extra footage and dialogue from the first three Star Wars films so that they can have scenes with Han Solo in The Last Jedi sequel.

"They are digging into the Original Trilogy, pieces of dialogue said by Harrison Ford, and modifying his voice and inserting it into Episode 9 in the form of dialogue to have proper scenes with other characters while meshing the footage together," the leak says.

But that's not all. The rumor also claims that Abrams and his team are looking at deleted scenes from The Force Awakens, hoping to add clips of these scenes into Episode IX.

"Disney and Lucasfilm are going through deleted scenes that were never shown to the public from The Force Awakens that will be inserted into Episode 9," the leak adds, "Also, they are looking at pieces of dialogue spoken by Harrison Ford to mix them into scenes from the final film in this trilogy in order for the character to have proper dialogue with others in this film."

Of course, as with any rumor online, fans ought to be reminded to take this new report with a grain of salt. We can't really know what's going to happen in Episode IX until Lucasfilm makes an official confirmation – many leaks and rumors turn out to be nothing once new Star Wars films finally make their release.

Besides, Ford is alive and well. Why would Abrams need to use old footage of Han Solo? Well, Ford could have turned Lucasfilm down, but really, would Abrams settle for old footage when the actual Han Solo is still around to film fresh new scenes with Episode IX's cast?

Let's wait and see.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
