A Star Trek Show Just Got Renewed for Additional Seasons on Paramount Plus

It looks like we'll be seeing more of the USS Protostar crew soon. Paramount+ has officially renewed Star Trek: Prodigy for a second season!

The first season of Star Trek: Prodigy has just debuted with a two-episode premiere special in late October. However, Paramount+ is already confident with the show, which reportedly had the top-performing premiere day out of any original animated kids series on the streaming service.

The first two episodes of Prodigy is titled Lost and Found and it introduced the young aliens living in the Delta Quadrant. These youngsters would eventually become the motley crew of an abandoned Starfleet ship USS Protostar and they must work together to reach the Alpha Quadrant.

Prodigy features a new cast that includes Brett Gray, Ella Purnell, Rylee Alazraqui, Angus Imrie, and Jason Mantzoukas. However, the animated show also featured voice-acting veterans like Star Wars: The Bad Batch actor Dee Bradley Baker and Lord of the Rings star John Noble.

Star Trek: Prodigy also brings back Kate Mulgrew as Captain Kathryn Janeway. Since the animated show takes place five years after USS Voyager landed on Earth, Mulgrew provides the voice of the Protostar's Emergency Training Holographic Advisor that is fashioned after Janeway.

For now, it is too early to tell what will happen in Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2. After all, the first season is only on its third episode and we will need to see what will happen in the next few episodes. Nevertheless, the renewal is exciting news for Trekkies of all ages who want to see more of the Protostar crew.

The latest episode of the first season of Prodigy is titled Starstruck and it aired on Thursday, November 4. The fourth episode has not yet been given an official title but is already set to premiere on Paramount+ on November 11, 2021.
