Star Trek: Resurgence was made through the partnership of several creatives. ViacomDBS worked with Dramatic Labs, a new studio established by Kevin Bruner, who co-founded Telltale Games. Star Trek: Resurgence follows the adventures of two main characters from the U.S.S. Resolute, First Officer Jara Rydek and Engineering Crewperson Carter Diaz, as they work with the entire Resolute crew to stop a war.

It was confirmed that the game was set after the Star Trek: Next Generation events in the year 2380. First Officer Rydek and Engineering Crewperson Diaz lead the crew of the Resolute to prevent a war between two civilizations - the Olidians and the Hotari.
