WARNING: The article contains spoilers about the final episode of Star Trek: Picard titled "The Last Generation." Read at your own risk.

The final episode of Star Trek: Picard finally gave us the perfect sendoff for The Next Generation crew. After a climactic battle against the Borg with the original Enterprise-D ship no less, Jean-Luc Picard and his old crew saved the Federation and the universe once again.

They also showed us a glimpse at the life of the characters in the aftermath of the battle where all of them got the happy ending that they deserve. The Next Generation crew even played another poker game similar to the very end of the original series with Picard initiating it this time around.

However, just like most films and TV shows nowadays, the final episode also featured a post-credits scene which gave us a tease about one of the character's future that might be addressed in a potential spinoff.

In the stinger that played after the main end credits, as Jack Crusher is settling on his quarter in the Enterprise-G, Q unexpectedly emerged in the scene where he announced to Jack that, while his dad's trial has ended, his own trial is about to begin.

John de Lancie returned to reprise the role after last playing him in the second season finale of Picard, where he ended Jean-Luc's trial of learning to let go of the past and accept love moving forward. He was also uncredited for his cameo in the post-credits scene.

This is also a full-circle moment since Jean-Luc had his first encounter with Q during the pilot episode of The Next Generation. Now, it's his son Jack's turn to undergo his trial which could go in different directions and possibilities.

Q's cameo appearance in the post-credits scenes was certainly a huge surprise. Not only because it was unannounced, but a lot of fans thought that we have seen the last of him during the second season finale.

However, this also just shows Q's immortal presence in the Star Trek universe and he will always have a connection with Picard although, this time around, it will be his descendant. While there is no follow-up series in the works at the moment, fans are curious to see how Jack and Q's first encounter will unfold.
