After many years we're finally getting a new Star Trek animated series in the upcoming comedy Star Trek: Lower Decks, which has a lot of fans excited. We've waited a few months since it was announced but CBS All Access has finally revealed when it will be coming out. In a fairly nice surprise, the series will be coming out next month so fans won't have to wait too long to see if Lower Decks will be the animated comedy they have been waiting for.

CBS All Access has announced that Lower Decks will be coming to the streaming service on August 6. That's not too far off from now so fans should mark their calendars (do people still do that?) so they can know when to catch this series. Mike McMahan will be working on it, which is very good news since he wrote for Rick and Morty, while also creating Solar Opposites with Justin Roiland.

This will be the first animated series to join CBS' Star Trek lineup so fans probably have a lot of expectations. Choosing to make this a comedy that focuses on people who are forced to work on the literal lower decks is a smart move since that's usually where the red suits who die do their thing. It should definitely make for fun viewing, whether you're into Star Trek or not.

Star Trek: Lower Decks will be coming to CBS All Access on August 6.
