Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Finally Reveals What Happened to the Federation

The third season of Star Trek: Discovery is certainly moving along steadily, refusing to look back at the previous episodes and heading straight into the next chapter of the crew's story. Interestingly, the Discovery crew finally finds what they are looking for but it's not exactly what they were expecting.

The previous episode Forget Me Not pretty much focused on telling Adira's story, revealing how they ended up becoming a human host to Tal's Trill symbiont. It was a touching tale that truly took its time allowing audiences to be enthralled with Adira's painful past. In dire contrast, the current episode barrels forward and finally brings the Discovery crew home.

In Die Trying, Michael Burnham finally gets the coordinates to Starfleet's new home base and doesn't waste time bringing Discovery there. Upon seeing the Federation vessels and almost everything they remember about their past, the crew is overcome with emotions. And although they do take their time reminiscing, they soon realize that a lot has changed about the Federation.

When Michael, Saru, and Adira finally meet Admiral Vance, they get a cold reception from the new leader. This is because the Federation has decided to forbid time travel right before Discovery's arrival. In addition to that, they happen to have a Mirror Universe citizen among the crew and that isn't welcome news.

Of course, this isn't the only thing that happens in Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Episode 5. For instance, there's an amazing cameo in Die Trying. However, we'll allow you to enjoy the awesome surprises when you get to watch the entire episode.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Episode 5 is now streaming on CBS All Access.
