Star Trek: Discovery Getting Black Ops-Themed Spin-Off Starring Michelle Yeoh

Star Trek: Discovery is gearing up for its highly-anticipated second season but the people behind the franchise are already working on other shows that will help shape the future of this series. We already know that an animated series based on this property is already being made but it turns out that Discovery is getting a live-action spin-off and it's going to have Michelle Yeoh as the lead.

Unlike Discovery, which is about exploring the galaxy and multiverse, the still-unnamed spin-off will focus on a black ops group, also known as Starfleet's Section 31 division. It's somewhat similar to X-Force, a group of mutants who have to take out the threats that the regular X-Men can't. It will be interesting to see what kind of threats Starfleet will face and why Section 31 will have to take them down.

Here's what producer Alex Kurtzman had to say about Yeoh in the show:

"Michelle has shattered ceilings, broken boundaries and astonished us with her grace and gravitas for decades. As a human, I adore her. As an actor, I revere her. Erika and Boey are remarkable, exciting writers who bring a fresh perspective to the world of Star Trek, and we're all thrilled to explore the next wild chapter in the life of Captain Philippa Georgiou."

Like Discovery, Kurtzman will continue to produce the show while Yeoh reprises her role for the aforementioned show. No release date for this series has been unveiled but expect newer details sooner or later.
