Star Trek Actor Simon Pegg Says The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Lacks George Lucas’ Imagination

Star Wars fans aren't the only ones who think that there's something wrong with the new Star Wars sequel trilogy. Star Trek and Mission Impossible star Simon Pegg has been feeling a bit underwhelmed by the Star Wars saga entries made after Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm, and according to The Force Awakens Unkar Plutt, it's all because of a lack of the old George-Lucas-charm in the new trilogy.

Speaking with his Hot Fuzz co-star Adam Buxton on The Adam Buxton Podcast, Pegg claims that one of the main issues he has with Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy is the absence of the imagination of original Star Wars creator, George Lucas.

"I must admit, watching the last Star Wars film [The Last Jedi], the overriding feeling I got when I came out was, ‘I miss George Lucas,'" Pegg admitted during his interview with Buxton. "For all the complaining that I'd done about him in the prequels, there was something amazing about his imagination."

According to the actor, he feels like Lucas' voice "is missing from the current ones," explaining how the franchise has changed so much since the Disney buy-out.

Still, Pegg's comments regarding the sequel trilogy's missing element come as a bit of a surprise to some. After all, Peg did heavily criticize Lucas' Phantom Menace, bashing the movie and calling it a "jumped-up firework display of a toy advert." And don't get us on his animosity towards Jar Jar Binks.

Pegg must probably be referring to the voice Lucas had while making the OT when he says that the sequel trilogy's missing the Star Wars creator's charm.
