Is There a Difference Between Squid Game and Squid Game: The Challenge?
The biggest difference between the two shows is that nobody actually dies in Squid Game: The Challenge.
Squid Game is a fictional thriller series that came out in 2021. Having said that, the show features a scripted performance by hired actors to perform their scenes.
Meanwhile, Squid Game: The Challenge is a reality competition that is unscripted. While there are also 456 contestants in the reality show, none of them are paid actors playing their roles.
Netflix refers to the reality show as its "biggest ever social experiment." The final winner in the competition will get to take home a life-changing cash prize amounting to $456 million.
Another big difference between the two shows is that the contestants in Squid Game: The Challenge do not put their lives at stake in the games they play. Although there are similar games, those who are unable to complete the challenge will not be shot on the spot by the armed guards.
Instead, there will be an ink pack on their chest that will explode. This will make it look like they were actually shot by the guards.

What Games Do They Play in Squid Game: The Challenge?
One of the things that really stood out in the original K-Drama series was the selection of childhood games the contestants played. Many have even recreated these games in the parties they hosted.
In Squid Game: The Challenge, the entire list of games has not yet been revealed by Netflix. But as we can see in the trailer, most of the original games have made their way back into the reality competition. These games include the following:
- Red Light, Green Light
- Sugar Honeycombs
- Marbles
- Hopscotch
Apart from these games, there appear to be new challenges that the contestants will face. One of these is a claw machine with a bunch of cyan-colored stuffed bears that the contestants have to take out successfully.
