Behind-the-scenes footage of Squid Game was released soon after the mega-hit series aired. It would be a lie to say that filming the game scenes was easy because, looking at how good the set creators were, it was a challenge for most stars, especially Lee Jung Jae, who played Seong Gi-hun.

Lee Jung-Jae Reveals The Hardest Game In Squid Game

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Squid Game's Lee Jung Jae revealed which of the series' games was the most difficult to film. The actor shared that there were two games that he thinks were the most difficult to shoot.

First was the Dalgona candy game. According to Jung Jae, it wasn't easy due to the minimal movements he could make. He also needed to express a lot of emotions without having to exaggerate his gestures.

The second was the final game in Squid Game, which was a face-off between Gi-hun and his childhood friend, Sang Woo.

"Because Gi-hun is very hurt because of all these games. And he knows he has to admit the fact that he deceived others in order to survive himself, so he's very disappointed in himself and in Sang-woo [Park Hae-soo], his close friend, because he betrayed him. These two characters are fighting against each other with their life on the line when they're childhood friends, so the scene itself is very heartbreaking. It was very emotionally tough. Secondly, I remember that when we were filming that scene when the two were fighting, it was in winter, so the weather was very cold. In Korea the winter is very freezing cold. I remember filming that scene for about four days in the rain with the sprinkler, so it was very emotionally and physically tough."

It comes as a surprise that Lee Jung Jae sees this as the most challenging game to film in Squid Game, as noticeably, it was the least one that uses skill, but it is the most harrowing. Facing off with one person in a life or death game is draining, but adding that Gi-hun was his friend and comrade during the entirety of the game made it highly poetic.
