Squid Game Creator Congratulates Jung Ho Yeon

Following the announcement, Squid Game creator and director Hwang Dong Hyuk offered heartfelt support after her inclusion on the list. He also looked back at the time they went through the selection process for Kang Sae Byeok's character.

"The first time I saw Ho-yeon was in a video, after I had spent three tiring months in search of an actress to play the role of Sae-byeok in Squid Game. In less than 10 seconds, I found myself sitting upright, captivated by what was on the screen. Instantly, I knew she was going to be Sae-byeok," he said.

While Jung Ho Yeon's acting skill in her audition clip was reportedly stiff and unfamiliar compared to other actors, Hwang Dong Hyuk reportedly got impressed by how she knew about her weaknesses but was dedicated to overcoming them.
