Spike Lee is No Longer Attached to Sony's Spider-Man Spin-Off Nightwatch

If you were one of the five people excited about Sony's upcoming Nightwatch movie, you're about to be disappointed. Spike Lee, an acclaimed director who just released BlacKkKlansman, is no longer attached to the movie. When the Spider-Man spin-off was first announced, Lee was in talks to direct the film but it looks like that didn't go well and he won't bother trying to be a part of it anymore.

During a quick interview with Screen Rant, Lee was asked about working on Nightwatch after the director praised Black Panther and he gave a very simple "Nah." Nothing says "I'm not working on this film anymore" than an answer like that. Say what you will about the guy but at least he's honest.

Honestly, it would be hard to make a movie about a character who has made such a small impact in the Marvel universe. You could argue the same thing about Blade but at least the character has the whole vampire hunter thing going for him, which doesn't need any kind of Marvel continuity to be cool.

Sony's Marvel universe isn't completely dead yet since Venom ended up being a huge success for the company. While we might not get Nightwatch anytime soon, the company is currently in the process of making a Morbius the Living Vampire film with Jared Leto. Let's not forget that a Venom sequel starring Carnage is more than likely to happen as well.
