Spider-Man Spinoff Silk Eyes Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Star for Main Role

The report about Sony Pictures developing the Silk series started back in 2018 and it seemed to have started moving forward with the latest updates. Sony Pictures has found a showrunner for its upcoming Silk series on Amazon, and the company has moved its focus to look for the possible lead actor of the series.

A report from the Illuminerdi claims that Sony and Amazon's planned Spider-Man spinoff series focusing on Silk is reportedly heading to Amazon Prime. The series will have The Walking Dead writer Sang Kyu Kim on board as showrunner and Chris Miller and Phil Lord as executive producers.

Aside from the writer and showrunners, Sony reported is eyeing Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress Adeline Rudolph to take on the new role. Presumably, she may become the lead for the series.

According to the character breakdown of Silk, Cindy Moon, aka Silk, is "a kid from Queens who is on her own for the first time." Silk is a complete beginner in fighting crime but she loves the feeling of beating up criminals, which is a way to let her frustrations out. The character also has an affinity for the ‘80s and ‘90s pop culture.

In the comics, Cindy was a classmate of Peter Parker. She was first introduced within the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man #1 back in 2014. After being bitten by a radioactive spider, she gained similar arachnid-based abilities like Spider-Man and took the superhero mantle of Silk. Tiffany Espensen actually appeared as the character in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
