Spider-Man: No Way Home's Andrew Garfield Announces Break From Making Movies

Andrew Garfield is enjoying the peak of his career as the actor remains at the center due to his excellent roles in Tick, Tick... Boom!, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, and of course, MCU's box office milestone, Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Fans delightfully embraced the return of both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's version of Peter Parker, joining the current MCU Spider-Man, Tom Holland. While No Way Home marks the remarkable three-generation reunion of fan-beloved web-slinging superheroes, the question, however, was if either Andrew or Tobey is back for good in the franchise.

Now, in a new interview with Variety, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Tick, Tick... Boom! star Andrew Garfield was asked about his potential return as the web-slinging hero.

Garfield responded, “I am going to take a break though… I’m going to rest for a little bit… I need to recalibrate and reconsider what I want to do next and who I want to be and just be a bit of a person for a while. Because as you know, that is a washing machine, that awards season... [It’s] so fun, and you get to hang out with people that you love and admire. You get to be a part of a conversation that is so privileged and you get to experience all the first-hand, visceral… kind of, being part of that community and the dynamics within this community is so cool. I feel so privileged and lucky… but now I need to just be a bit ordinary for a while.”

Following Sony's lack of any Spider-Man announcement that includes Garfield, fans have doubted more about the actor's return.

As much as we want to see Garfield return for more Spider-Man appearances in the future of the MCU, it looks like Sony is rather fully on-board in crafting a lineup of Spider-Man anti-heroes spinoffs with several upcoming projects that consist of Kraven: The Hunter, Madame Web, Venom 3, and the recent Morbius.

Garfield's choice to take a break doesn't mean we won't see him again as the web-slinger. However, we might see the actor might appear in different massive franchises and make the best choices for his career.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available for digital purchase.
