Spider-Man: No Way Home's epic final showdown is definitely one of the most explosive and ambitious final battles we've seen from any Marvel film. But if the collective threat of Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, and the Lizard wasn't enough, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures apparently had initial plans to include another villain in the mix and that is none other than Tom Hardy's Venom who briefly found his way in Earth-616 before being transported back to his own universe.

Those who have seen the film are already aware that Eddie Brock's involvement in the film was reduced to just a cameo that sees the anti-hero leave some parts of the symbiote in Tom Holland's world, obviously setting up his own Venom saga in future films. Screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers admit that the original draft for the film was way too excessive even for a film as massive as No Way Home.

Speaking with Variety, the writing duo discussed the plot hole that may have prevented Brock's involvement in the final battle. You see, all of the villains that were transported to Earth-616 know Spider-Man's true identity, and seeing as Peter Parker doesn't exist in Hardy's world (or at least hasn't introduced himself to Brock yet), it wouldn't make any sense for Venom to be battling Spider-Man.

Despite that apparent plot hole, McKenna explains that the symbiote "has knowledge of other universes." He said: "Buried in his [Venom] brain is some knowledge of that connection.

The writers definitely made the right call by dropping any plans of a Venom appearance during the final battle. No matter how you try to justify it, it just wouldn't make any sense from a story standpoint. Leaving a piece of the symbiote behind was a much clever way of introducing Earth-616's iteration of Venom.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now showing in cinemas worldwide.
