While the release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is still well away, fans have been clamoring to learn more about what's to come in the animated movie. It looks like there'll be some updates soon, though, with a new image seemingly teasing that production is about to get up and rolling.

Animation veteran Octavio E. Rodriguez took to Twitter to reveal that he has joined the production for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 as the Head of Story. The photo potentially indicates that he and the team are back at work. You can check out the post below!

Rodriguez is certainly no stranger to big animation projects like this. Most recently, he served as the director of multiple episodes of The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants. He also worked as a story artist on Disney-Pixar movies such as The Incredibles 2, Coco, and Monsters University. He was also a storyboard artist for The Spectacular Spider-Man episode, "Interactions."

Having worked on a project involving the wall-crawler could hopefully make it possible for the character to appear in the Spider-Verse sequel. Of course, for now, that's just wishful thinking. The film is still shrouded in mystery but knowing that it'll expand the Spider-Man history, fans ought to be excited for the different incarnations of the character to appear in the movie.

Originally set for release in April 2022, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 was pushed back to October 7, 2022.
