Spider-Man: Far From Home Gets IMAX Release As Part of New Sony Deal

It looks like Spider-Man: Far From Home is going to grace some of the best movie screens around as Sony has made a new deal with IMAX. A number of the studio's movies will now play on the most high-definition movie screen around so you now have more options to view the upcoming Venom sequel.

Joking about a Venom sequel isn't a coincidence as it was that film's success that convinced IMAX to go ahead with the deal. Prior to this, Sony and IMAX only agreed to have one-off films that would occasionally be shown on that screen. Looks like more of Sony's movies will be in IMAX now, which could be a good or bad thing, depending on who you ask.

Sony does get a big benefit from this since audiences will now pay for a pricer version of one of their movies. When you consider just how popular Spider-Man is, expect the Marvel icon's sequel to do really well, whether it's on IMAX or regular screenings.

Fans are hoping that Far From Home lives up to expectations since a lot of people really liked Homecoming. It's also going to be post-Avengers 4, which will definitely get a lot of attention from fans and critics alike.

Sony is also hoping that their series of movies will get the same degree of success that Venom did. Now that we're getting a Morbius film with Jared Leto, it will be interesting to see what other movies they come up with. Aside from a Venom sequel, rumors of a Kraven the Hunter movie have also been rampant.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is slated for a July 2019 release.
