Spider-Man: Far from Home Casts J.B. Smoove in Lead Role

Spider-Man: Far from Home has already begun filming, but the movie is adding more people to its cast. The latest in the roster? Curb Your Enthusiasm's J.B. Smoove.

According to Deadline, Smoove has been cast in a ‘lead' role, but we still have no idea who he's actually playing. Seeing that Jake Gyllenhaal is already playing Mysterio, some think that he will be some kind of second fiddle, much like the other villains in Spider-Man: Homecoming like The Tinkerer, Scorpion, and the two Shockers.

Speaking of Homecoming, it's also said that Michael Keaton will be making an appearance in this film as Adrian Toomes. Some are thinking that this is all set to build up to a Sinister Six team-up ready to take Spider-Man on in the third movie.

With the last two Spider-Man franchises killed by having an oversaturation of villains, I think Homecoming was able to pull it off by emphasizing that one villain was the primary one with the rest just acting like secondary lackeys. Hopefully Sony finds a perfect balance of bad guys should they attempt a formation of the Sinister Six.

For now, I guess all we can do is wait for more information. With the film set to come out July of next year, it's possible we can get our first teaser for Far from Home before the year ends. At best, we'll get it early next year.

Spider-Man: Far from Home comes out July 5, 2019.
