We're still a year away from the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the direct sequel to the 2018 smash hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse but Sony is already pulling out epic surprises for the project.

Appearing at the 2022 CinemaCon in Las Vegas' Caesars Palace, producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller unveiled the first 15 minutes of the film and according to the duo, Across the Spider-Verse will be an even bigger spectacle than the first one.

Before showing the clip to the people in attendance, Lord and Miller delivered a speech, taking everyone to the makings of Across the Spider-Verse. Turns out, the duo led over 1,000 crew members, the biggest crew they've assembled says Lord. "We had to try and break new ground, so it's way bigger."

He also revealed a massive collection of characters for the film, with 240 characters set to be featured. Into the Spider-Verse only featured 40 characters. So far, the 15-minute footage has yet to make its way on the internet but ComicBook was able to gather information about it.

The film reportedly begins in Gwen Stacy's home universe of Earth-65 before the action picks up on Earth-1610, Miles Morales' turf. The footage sees Jessica Drew (voiced by Issa Rae) who is five months pregnant during the movie. Vulture is also shown in the footage.

It would be safe to assume that Sony Pictures would do everything in its power to keep the footage away from the internet for the time being. But don't be surprised if it begins leaking on social media any day from now.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently slated for release on June 2, 2023.
