Sound! Euphonium is one of Kyoto Animation’s most loved shows, and finally, the show is coming back with a new anime project. To celebrate, Sound! Euphonium teamed up with Yamaha for a special collaboration.
Yamaha may be known by most people as a motorcycle manufacturer, but this collab is with the Yamaha musical instrument company. This makes sense considering Sound! Euphonium’s story.
This new collab comes right in time as the long-awaited new project in the series was released in Japanese cinemas today.
Sound! Euphonium Finally Returns With New OVA and Season 3
Kyoto Animation (or KyoAni) is an anime studio that’s best known for its titles such as K-On!, Violet Evergarden, and Free!
While the studio has been prolific since the 2000s, KyoAni’s output slowed down considerably following the tragic arson attack in 2019 that took the lives of 36 people in the company.
In the past few years though, KyoAni has made a successful return, with the studio releasing shows such as Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S and Tsurune.
Now, KyoAni has also released a new OVA for its popular slice-of-life music series, Sound! Euphonium.
The show’s first season aired in 2015, and it became a popular show thanks to its great animation and yuri elements.
Because of its success, the show received a second season in the Fall 2016 season. Since then, the series has gotten several films, but no new season.
Finally, last year, KyoAni announced a new OVA titled Sound! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest and a third season.

Yamaha Gets New Collab With Sound! Euphonium
This new OVA is now screening in Japanese cinemas, and to celebrate, the show teamed up with Yamaha for a special collaboration.
As with most anime collabs, this crossover features a selection of exclusive merch, including a clear file and a limited-edition pair of wireless earbuds.
The collab’s highlight is a giveaway where one lucky fan will get to take home a Yamaha YEP-621 euphonium – the same instrument that protagonist Kumiko Oumae uses in the anime.
Fans who are interested in joining the giveaway should follow the official mechanics on the Yamaha Wind Stream and the Sound! Euphonium official Twitter accounts.
Finally, Yamaha stores in major cities across Japan will get special exhibits featuring visual panels from the anime.
This isn’t the first time Yamaha teamed up with an anime. Previously, the musical instrument company also collaborated with Bocchi the Rock!, though the focus of that collab was guitars.
