Several years ago, Sony was developing a Sinister Six movie that would have teamed up the iconic Spider-Man villains on the big screen for an action-packed adventure just like in the comics.
However, since then, the project was canceled as the studio decided to focus on individual films that will explore each well-known villain in Spider-Man's rogues gallery with the possibility of revising the concept again down the line.
Some fans have been wondering about what the film would have looked like if it continued on and whether Spider-Man would have gotten a prominent role or if it would just focus on the six villains instead.
Now, thanks to a newly-released tell-all report, we now have the details surrounding Sony's plan for the movie and it's wilder than what fans might anticipate.

Cancelled Sinister Six Movie Would Have Featured Spider-Man Riding a T-Rex
The newly-released book MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios by Joanna Robinson, Dave Gonzales, and Gavin Edwards (via The Direct) detailed Sony's plans for the canceled Sinister Six movie including a bizarre scene featuring Spider-Man and a dinosaur.
Apparently, in the draft that writer Drew Goddard wrote at the end of 2014, Spider-Man and the villains find themselves in Savage Land where the web-slinger would have been seen riding a T-rex.
The film was also planning to explore breaches in the space-time continuum as they will face off against a little unknown alien monster named Gog and have sequences that are also set in Paris and London aside from Savage Land.
Based on the emails that were leaked in the 2014 Sony hacking controversy, the Sinister Six line-up in the movie would have featured Doc Ock, The Vulture, Sandman, Mysterio, Black Cat, and possibly Spider-Man himself.
Matt Damon and Matthew McConaughey were considered for Doc Ock while Tom Hardy was eyed for Sandman (this was years before he was cast as Venom). Idris Elba, Frances McDormand, Bryan Cranston, and Jackie Chan were also being circled for roles in the film.
This is definitely a wild idea, especially for a live-action Spider-Man movie. While it may have worked in the comic book pages or in animation, this may not have sat well in live-action and it could have been jarring for the general audience since they don't usually see the hero in this type of setting.
Perhaps this was one of the reasons why the project was eventually canned since the idea was just too bizarre and the scene may have required a lot of VFX and money which Sony might not be willing to do, especially in the wake of The Amazing Spider-Man 2's box office performance.
Depending on the success of the current live-action Spider-Verse franchise, perhaps Sony will attempt to do a Sinister Six movie again soon using the existing villains that they've been introducing.
