Sergei Kravinoff aka Kraven the Hunter is undoubtedly one of Spider-Man's fiercest foes. This is why fans were incredibly pleased after learning that he was the next Spidey villain to get a live-action treatment.

Unfortunately, it looks like Sony's take on the fan-favorite antagonist isn't hitting the mark with audiences and as it stands, things aren't looking great for the Aaron Taylor-Johnson-led film.

Sony Releases First Trailer for Kraven the Hunter and Fans Already Hate It

After months filled with anticipation, Sony Pictures finally gave Marvel diehards their first taste of Kraven the Hunter. However, the excitement and enthusiasm were quickly replaced by resentment from the Spider-Man fandom after they discovered that the production company made drastic changes to the iconic baddie's backstory and overall presentation.

For starters, Kraven lost his iconic Russian accent and speaks in an American one which is quite baffling considering his father, played by Russell Crowe has a noticeable accent.

That one is somewhat forgivable though and the biggest change fans aren't happy about is how Kraven got his animalistic abilities. You see, in the comics, Kraven gets his superhuman strength through the herbal potions he concocts.

In the film's trailer, it was revealed that Kraven got his abilities from a drop of Lion's blood which sounds way too cheesy compared to the villain's comic-book origins.

After seeing the trailer, fans stormed Twitter to air their grievances over the film and it's already safe to say that Sony isn't winning them over with this new take on Kraven. Check out some of the reactions below:

Sony's track record when it comes to live-action comic book films hasn't been the greatest and if anything, fans should have expected this kind of outcome. Of course, it's still a little too early to place judgment on the film but based on the stuff we've seen from the first trailer, there's a good chance we're looking at another Morbius situation.

Kraven the Hunter is currently scheduled for theatrical release on October 6, 2023.
