Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Production Details Revealed

We already know that a second Sonic the Hedgehog film is coming but when exactly will the sequel begin shooting? A new report may have revealed some new details about the project's production next year.

The information can be found in the Creative BC Film Commission website which lists down creative productions in British Columbia. Interestingly, one project listed down is under the codename "Emerald Hill" with an in-house production company named Red Energy Films.

So what's so interesting about this particular project? It reveals that one of the producers of "Emerald Hill" is Neal H. Moritz who is an executive at Paramount Pictures. Additionally, Moritz was one of the producers of the first Sonic film and had been confirmed to produce the sequel.

The list also reveals that "Emerald Hill" is set to begin production on March 15, 2021 and will continue until May 10, 2021. This means we could be getting some interesting updates about Sonic the Hedgehog 2 pretty soon.

We're loving the idea that the wait for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 isn't as long as expected. Hopefully, this time, the project will start on the right foot and will not have to go through an extensive redesign that delayed the first movie.

The first Sonic the Hedgehog film starred Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic. The cast includes Jim Carrey as Doctor Robotnik, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, and Neal McDonough. Although the sequel has not yet been given an official release date, it is expected to hit theaters in 2022.
